Sophie Borton + Emma Fudge Fashion Collection

Bit of a late blog, been so busy, haven't had the time to post anything till now. Last Tuesday i was lucky enough to be commissioned to take photos of two of my friends (Sophie Borton and Emma Fudge) fashion design collections for their 3rd year pieces.

The flat, just arrived and everyone getting ready!
Hard at work & so many clothes - Emma, Sophie & Eena
The shoot consisted of both their works together to give the over all look. Clothing was bright, bold with pattern overload! Having a bit of a chat with the girls before the shoot they were showing me the style and images they wanted everything to be shot. I heard the word Joyrich from Sophie's mouth so many times i wasn't able to count, and i think Emma banned her from using it!

Idea was to shoot it quite fun, vibrant in a Joyrich inspired with the style, colour and fun vibe - basically reflecting the clothing. Had a great team and models on the day made it really enjoyable and fun and think that really showed in the photos!

We took the photos at an apartment Sophie had access to for the shoot, managed to get a couple 'behind the scenes' photos!

It was planned that we'd also had squeezed a studio shoot of just Emmas work but this was unachievable when realised how much we had to organize and such little time. This shoot should hopefully take place next week though!

Cigarette break with views from the balcony, Fudge kindly pointing out the landmarks. No cigarettes for me :)

Beauty Shoot (Part 2)

This is the follow up post from Beauty Shoot Part 1. This was the second make up look that we went for in the shoot. We tried something completely different and went for colour! I did have other ideas in terms of lighting originally for this but i didn't really give Alexa a brief for this one - think I just mentioned to ''Go crazy!''. After seeing the make up I decided to go for quite a high key soft light. Slightly over exposing the backdrop with a strip box and had a soft box in the back towards the camera as a bleaching rim light with the beauty as a fill.

For post production i literally just cleaned up the images and over laid some pastel colours to keep with the colour theme

Heres my favorite shots from this shoot:

Beauty Shoot (part 1)

Monday i arranged a beauty shoot with a makeup artist Alex Rothwell which i got in touch via ModelMayhem website and Amy Burnett - Someone who i had met though doing the Alterr-Ego shoot the previous week. We agreed to do 2 looks in the one day, first of all one that was quite natural, natural colours and a soft light. Do do this i used a single beauty dish about arms length from the models face with a gold reflector as a fill from below to stop any too harsher shadows forming under the chin, but used gold to keep warmth. Here are the final photos from the first shoot of the day:

The Photos from the second shoot of that day will be up up soon so watch out for them! Also follow Alexa MUA on Facebook here.

Alterr-Ego Shoot!

Saturday 7th did a shoot for a new clothing company/retailers that specialises in retro 90's street wear styling. The company's just been started by a couple friends of mine, Aaron and Emma, they seem to be pretty organised which is always good! We had a few models - 3 guys (Paul, Jack and Pete) and 2 girls (Amy and Madge).

Shoot started off with some simple product shots of all the garments which went something like this

Second half of the shoot we canted something which was fun - and more colour to give more of the 90's feel!

If you like what you can see then please follow their Facebook page here. Their website will be up really soon!

Ohh and one last shot of everyone who was involved on the day (minus Amy who had work) :)

Emilio and Samantha

Yesterday did another shoot for the portfolio. Had no idea who i was shooting, what she looked like or what the hair was going to be, only thing i had to go one was 'hair's gonna be big!'. Well.. to be honest it was all a bit disorganised and had no idea what to expect!

Couple images of Emilio working and posing with Sam :). Considering that we were really unorganised the final shot came out really well! Wen't for quite a soft light from above the model, filling in the face with a gold reflector and a light on the champagne backdrop at an angle with honeycombe and barn doors. Image was cleaned up and colour corrected in photoshop. Whole idea was to use soft tones and warm neutral tones to compliment one another and set quite an atmospheric setting, which i think worked well!

By far my favorite piece to date that i've done with Mr Pascale, and personally my favorite piece of hair work that i've seen him do!

Yesterday I met up with my friend Sarah Beaufoy, someone who i had met on the Enterprise Program course with the Princes Trust late last year. Sarah's at the start of her journey creating her business designing swimwear, using digital prints on fabric she's designed some quite elegant and colourful pieces.

The pieces were designed, modeled, make up/hair and styling were done by her, with myself taking the photos.

Here's 2 of my favorite shots from the day:

Hair shoot and update

Been pretty busy this weekend, Saturday i was down the studio with Tristan cleaning up the old vinyl backdrop ready to sell, which the buyer came there and then and took it away for us which was quite convenient. After, we were fixing the new roller system in place, now it's less hassel and far more secure than having the backdrop stands that we were originally using. Been a bit of a learning curve really.

That night i covered the night down Arc Bar - Intelligent Beats, took far too many photos (close to 400) and now have to sort them out today, not really looking forward to it, should probably have been more sober and less trigger happy...

Anyway another shoot with Emilio on the Sunday, this featured Helena. Just had a quick browse through the photos and edited my favorite. Really happy with the paper backdrops, only used the crimson so far, need to arrange some more shoots! Feel free to leave comments with feedback :)

New Delivery!

Things over the past couple weeks have been pretty slow to be honest, although I've almost got the website complete in terms of layout and the photographs now. just need to try and create something eye-catching for the homepage and write a little on there and shouldn't be too far hopefully.

Apart from that and sorting out a few other bits and pieces i decided to take the plunge and order some new fancy backdrops! Stupidly i ordered them to my home address, thinking that they'd be able to go in the car but appears that wont be the case. Have to rent a van from B&Q later to drop them off to the studio, Lesson learnt... Colours include: Crimson, Chestnut, Sky Blue & Champagne. Can't wait to see what they look like, going to do another shoot with Emilio on sunday so will get a chance to use them there, keep a lookout for the photos - I'll be posting again soon!

Hair Shoot with Emilio Pascale

Sunday 29th January, Emilio and myself carried out our first hair shoot over in the studio. We had Rosy Pearson modelling for us, who was fantastic. Huge credits to Emilio for doing an incredible job, true artist.
